Story

Originally from Gran Canaria, Nico Barrera joined Getafe International Madrid Football Academy during the 2022–23 season as a fast and direct winger eager to continue his football development in Madrid.

After completing his season at GIMFA, Nico signed for URJC Móstoles Juvenil during the 2023–24 campaign. In his first year outside the academy, he helped the team secure promotion to División de Honor Juvenil, gaining valuable experience competing in one of the strongest youth environments in Spain.

Nico then made the transition into senior football with AD Villaviciosa de Odón, where he quickly adapted to the demands of men’s football. During the 2024–25 season, he scored 6 goals while competing in Madrid’s senior regional divisions.

His performances opened the door to Tercera RFEF football with Trival Valderas during the 2025–26 season, while later continuing at AD Villaviciosa de Odón and contributing with 7 goals.

Nico’s progression demonstrates how GIMFA helps players develop the technical, physical, and mental tools necessary to continue advancing within the Spanish football pyramid.
