Story

Markus Anderson joined Getafe International Madrid Football Academy during the 2018–19 season as an explosive winger with enormous attacking potential. His speed, creativity, and ability to create danger in one-on-one situations quickly stood out during his development in Spain.

Following his experience at GIMFA, Markus continued his progression in Spanish football by joining Rayo Majadahonda’s División de Honor squad during the 2021–22 season, scoring 7 goals against some of the best youth teams in the country. One year later, he advanced to Rayo Majadahonda B, where he scored 10 goals and established himself as one of the club’s most promising attacking players.

His rapid development earned him a place in Rayo Majadahonda’s first team in Primera RFEF during the 2023–24 season. Competing in one of Spain’s highest non-professional divisions, Markus continued to impress before signing with Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer.

Since joining Philadelphia Union, Markus has already played 11 official MLS matches and over 40 matches in MLS NEXT Pro, scoring 13 goals in the competition alongside his first MLS goal.
