South African defender Bonginkosi “Bobo” Phala spent four seasons at Getafe International Madrid Football Academy between 2021 and 2025, becoming one of the academy’s most notable defensive prospects.

Throughout his development at GIMFA, Bobo stood out for his physical presence, defensive discipline, and leadership qualities as a centre-back. His steady progression within the academy led to one of the biggest milestones of his career when he signed for Getafe CF División de Honor during the 2024–25 season.
